want a drag of 0 and 1 ?

over the phone, a couple of weeks ago (when i sounded more optimistic than now) , my friend said that a group of dolphins name each other and call each other by those names, i suddenly said: wow! interesting!... but i wonder what combination of sequence of sounds and/or frequency/pitch/loudness they use to make different names...
then i dunno why i said:
let's imagine there is a planet with humans pretty much like us but they talk with 0's and 1's instead of the way we talk.
let's say they only have two sounds: 0 and 1.
then, how many different combinations can they make?
well, depends what the length of sequence of 1's and 0's are!
but then, how many different languages can emerge?
and how complicated can the sentence structures get?
and how stupid those sequences would sound excluding the intonation and/or stress/ tone!?

given the fact that anything in the realm of science is theoretically possible provided it follows the math/physics laws, would you like to be one of those humans?!
would their life also be made of sticky circles and full of unfair moments?!
-------------------------
good news:
May 31st is finally round the corner and...?!
smoking ban law getting enforced in Quebec restaurants, cafes, bars, bistros, clubs, ...

and i hope my neighbors know that the law also includes the residential building public areas; and the corridors and the lobby are the very public areas for god's sake, but when they keep smoking inside their teeny apt.s their freaking 2nd-hand smoke leaks out to the corridors and eventually into next-door apt.s !!

anyhow, if you are in Quebec, you can help enforce the law like this.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
i just remembered this:
round Valentine's day, out with friends at 3brassseurs which was packed with people and stuffed with 2nd-hand cigarette and cigar smoke, i saw this young couple with a very cute kid of only 5-6 months old or even less sitting with friends.
alright, they don't care if they inhale some smoke, but how can they think they can decide FOR the poor little kid? it's not their property... honestly it was only an infant, and if it wasn't because of my friends, i would have snapped at them like no-one else ever! :-\

I remember going on a fishing trip with my father as a boy. My Dad didn't smoke, but riding in our car was a smoker. It was raining outside so the windows were rolled up except for a little crack. I remember having a hard time breathing, but as I as only about five at the time I didn't have the courage to tell any of the adults in the car that I couldn't breathe. The memory is scary to this day.

Bonjour, Paradox. As always I deeply appreciate your comments here and on my blog, which, as you'll notice, I continue to feel compelled to post, so my readers can more fully appreciate your impressions and questions.

I have wondered what your degree is in. Whatever it is, you have been well-educated. To be well-educated is a strongly held value for Baha'is, although it has also been the basis for some to harbor negative feelings and justify discrimination against the Baha'i community.

If I may comment on your various points on Baha'i Views...

There is a saying, 'Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.' It certainly can and has been applied to religions from Catholicism in the Middle Ages to current Muslim fundamentalist governments. Can humanity ever be freed from succumbing to the power of a "power-orientation." I believe the answer is, inevitably, yes.

The religions of the past have all succumbed to division; we both agree on this. That division has had terribly consequences up to and including war. Can we ever get beyond division? Yes.

Baha'u'llah's reaffirmation of the spiritual verities also includes the machinery to ensure that authoritative interpretation will always be available to Baha'is. That Baha'is have a place to turn for authoritative interpretation ensures that division will be avoided.

Consider: the Baha'i Faith was NOT born yesterday. It has been 162 years since the Bab made his declaration, and 143 years since Baha'u'llah's public declaration. There have been many attempts over the years to divide the Baha'i Faith but all have come to naught.

I can understand the sensitivity you may feel about the use of a "justifying/interpretive" practice in religion, as Islam has been guilty of carrying such exercises to the extreme, as with the enunciations of countless hadith. The reality is, nothing that religions have demonstrated in the past compares to what the Baha'i religion (and we can call it that, and not just "Faith") offers in terms ensuring that purely "man-made" interpretations don't creep in.

Reading about the Faith may bring up various unpleasant associations for you because of your experience with "twisted versions of Islam." The roots of the Faith are in Islam, and it may be difficult for you to see it with "new eyes" because of the "trauma" you have experienced with these twisted versions.

Baha'is are not passive about the injustice in the world at all. They just have a specific role to play in the scheme of things.

Let me ask, to what "movement" can an enlighted, spiritual, well-meaning person such as yourself turn to in this world to rectify the injustice in this world?

I think of Zeinobia who dissed the Baha'is in her blog and moved on to jump into the political fracas her country is going through in subsequent posts. Are partisan political systems anywhere in the world up the task of righting the wrongs that you can find in every corner of the globe. Today I was learning about the terrible injustice in Zimbabwe. Who can step in to save that country from the chaos overtaking it? What about Iraq? What about...Iran?

Periodically I read some of the Persian blogs like Iranian Truth. People like Nima defend the cause of the Baha'is, but then go on to do the same thing that Zeinobia does. Jump into the political fray. Persian political blogs are depressing to read. Partisan politics is all so...adversarial. As you suggest, it's all about power for those attracted to politics as an option.

Where in the world can you find a movement, any movement, that has the power to both spiritualize the individual and unite the masses. No purely secular movement is up to the task. No previous religions Faith can provide the framework. Looking at these options, the Baha'i Community provides a unique alternative.

The ultimate argument on behalf of the Faith was released earlier this year. It's called One Common Faith, and I referred to it many times on Baha'i Views. I know you have said that heavy reading is a challenge for you, but I believe the answers to the questions you pose are contained within that document.

Of course, there are many Iranians in Montreal, including many Iranian Baha'is. Seeking a local Baha'i, Iranian or not, to dialogue with is always an option.

Our dialogue continues to have great signficance to me. Thank you for taking the time.

Maybe the little kid likes smoking. Who are you to decide for the kid? His parents certainly have his interests at heart more than you do.
